The French Ministry of the Interior said that 237,000 people participated in protests across the country that day, including 17,000 in Paris. This is the highest number in the past month.
The French parliament approved a bill submitted by the Macron government on July 26, requiring people to hold a special health pass when entering all restaurants, trains, airplanes and other public places in the country, and mandatory requirements for all hygiene work People must start vaccination before September 15, or they may face suspension. The bill was originally formulated for adults, but starting September 30, it will apply to all people 12 years of age and older.
As the epidemic rebounded, French President Macron called for mass vaccination across the country to combat another outbreak, but this action was strongly opposed by the domestic people.

But since Macron announced its health pass plan last month, the vaccination rate in France has risen sharply. Two-thirds of French people have received a dose of the vaccine, and 55% have been fully vaccinated.
Just two days before the protests this weekend, the French Constitutional Council approved part of the health pass bill submitted by the government, allowing the government to extend the pass to restaurants, cafes, shopping centers and other places.
According to the decision of the Constitutional Committee on the 5th, starting from August 9th, people need to show health passes whether they are eating in restaurants, receiving non-emergency treatment in hospitals, or taking intercity trains. The same goes for people to enter cultural and entertainment venues, including museums, movie theaters, concert halls, sports fields, and theme parks that can accommodate more than 50 people.
The Constitutional Committee also approved the retention of the part that requires medical workers and other professionals to be vaccinated, but rejected the compulsory isolation of those who test positive for the Chinese Communist virus.
