Liverpool remains at the top of the Premier League. The Reds had difficulties, but beat Burnley 3-1, this Saturday (10), at Anfield. Diogo Jota, Luis Díaz and Darwin Nuñez secured the victory for the home team. On the other hand, defender O’Shea found the net for the team that occupies the penultimate position in the championship.

The team led by coach Jurgen Klopp entered the field under pressure after City’s victory in the opening match of this 24th round. However, Liverpool did their homework, picked up the three points and returned to the top of the table.

However, Manchester City has one game in hand due to the Club World Cup in December last year, and it is up to them to become the leader of the English Championship.

With the result, Liverpool reached 54 points and restored their two-point advantage over Manchester City, in second. On the other hand, Burnley continues with a terrible campaign, with just 13 points in penultimate position.

The game

Even facing a technically weaker team, Liverpool encountered difficulties at Anfield in the first stage. Diogo Jota took advantage of Alexander-Arnold’s assist and opened the scoring for the Reds. But Burnley also created chances and threatened goalkeeper Alisson. In this way, defender O’Shea, with a header, tied the game in the final moments of the first half.

However, coach Jurgen Klopp adjusted the team at half-time and Liverpool grew in performance in the second half. After just six minutes, Luis Díaz appeared in the area and, with a header, put the Reds ahead. Furthermore, in a new set piece, it was Elliott’s turn to cross for Darwin Nuñez to confirm the 3-1 victory, again with a header.
