Love under the bombs, 22 thousand weddings celebrated in Ukraine during the war

There are those who did it at the front, in camouflage with an improvised bouquet and a veil of luck attached to their helmets, and those who instead in the cities, allowing themselves to be immortalized in the usual photo among the rubble of the bombings: the war did not stop the love and the desire to look forward with over 22,000 marriages registered in Ukraine since the beginning of the war, including 1,800 in the city of Kiev alone.

“Nothing inspires hope for victory like the birth of a new life. The city lives! In the capital, new families and new lives are born every day,” the deputy head of the state administration of the capital, Mykola Povoroznyk, wrote on Fb. of new births: 1,500 children who came into the world under bombs, including 759 blue bows, 670 pink and at least 32 twins, the Ukrainian media stressed.

And, as often happens in times of war, the names are also linked to the difficult days that Ukraine has been experiencing for almost two months now. Among the new registrations of babies, many are called Jevelin, Javelin, Jav or Javelina in homage to those missiles arrived from the United States that are allowing the Ukrainian resistance to oppose the invader.

There are many stories of horror and atrocities that bounce from Ukraine, but the race for marriages and births tell of a country that, once again, does not want to give up. Like the one, a few days ago, of a soldier who stopped the girl’s car at a check point to make the statement to his girlfriend: the images show her, frightened as she gets out of the car, and then melts into emotion finding herself in front of that kneeling soldier who hands her the ring of ‘forever’.
