M 5.7 Earthquake Shakes South Nias, No Tsunami Potential

A magnitude (M) 5.7 earthquake occurred in South Nias, North Sumatra. This earthquake didn’t have the facility to trigger a tsunami wave.

“(The epicenter of the earthquake) was 78 km southeast of South Nias,” BMKG wrote on its web site, Wednesday (5/6/2024).

The earthquake occurred at present at 18.16 WIB. The origin of the earthquake was at a depth of 57 kilometers.

“(The location of the earthquake) is 0.42 north latitude, 98.50 east longitude,” he defined.

There is at present no details about the reason for the earthquake. The influence of the earthquake isn’t but recognized.
