Mainland Affairs Council: The CCP uses the Russia-Ukraine war to intimidate Taiwan to disturb people’s hearts | Ukraine Today, Taiwan Tomorrow | Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council | Xi Jinping

[The Epoch Times, March 17, 2022](The Epoch Times reporter Zhong Yuan reported in Taipei) The Mainland Affairs Commission of the Republic of China pointed out that the CCP, through a number of official media, deliberately used provocative rhetoric such as “Ukraine today, Taiwan tomorrow” in an attempt to disrupt Taiwanese society.

When the Russian army invaded Ukraine, whether the CCP took the opportunity to invade Taiwan has become the focus of international attention. An anonymous analyst from Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) recently released a report exposing Xi Jinping’s plan to take over Taiwan completely this fall.

Zhu Fenglian, a spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the Communist Party of China, said at a regular press conference on the 16th that if the “Taiwan independence” separatist forces provoke and persecute, or even break through the red line, “we will have to take decisive measures.” She also responded to the media’s questions about the war in Ukraine and the Taiwan Strait several times.

In this regard, the Mainland Affairs Council of the Republic of China pointed out that the CCP used the situation in Russia and Ukraine to intimidate and conduct cognitive warfare against Taiwan, which was fully confirmed at the press conference of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council on the same day.

Taiwan’s Mainland Affairs Council emphasized that China has at least asked questions about the Russian-Ukrainian war and its views on Taiwan through its five or more official media, and deliberately used provocative arguments such as “Ukraine today, Taiwan tomorrow, military reunification and decisive measures” in an attempt to disturb the hearts and minds of Taiwanese society. The MAC expressed strong dissatisfaction.

The MAC stated that the Beijing authorities do not condemn the humanitarian crisis caused by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and they have increased their coercion against Taiwan.

The Mainland Affairs Council said that in the face of the CCP’s continued military threats and its words and deeds spreading the wrong positioning of Taiwan, the government’s firm belief in safeguarding the country’s sovereignty, security, and democracy and freedom will never change.

When Foreign Minister Wu Zhaoxie attended the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Legislative Yuan for consultation on the 16th, he said that he was not sure about the authenticity of the FSB report, but that the Ministry of National Defense and relevant units pay close attention to national security issues, “regardless of whether China wants to attack us, or Whenever we attack, we must be ready to defend ourselves anytime, anywhere.”

Wu Zhaoxie said that Taiwan’s defense depends on its own determination, and it is necessary to purchase enough self-defense weapons. The United States continues to provide Taiwan with weapons. “There will be an announcement of arms sales in the future.”

Regarding Russia’s inclusion of Taiwan in the list of unfriendly countries and regions, Wu Zhaoxie said that if you look at the 48 countries listed, they are all countries in the democratic and freedom camp with similar ideas, so I believe the people of Taiwan will feel that they stand with democratic countries. Taiwan will not feel alone in the international community.
