With the establishment of the new Bundestag, the term of German Chancellor Merkel and her ministers officially ended. The Merkel government will continue to carry out official duties until the new cabinet is appointed and sworn in. According to the current plans of the Social Democratic Party, the Green Party and the Liberal Democratic Party, the appointment and swearing-in of the new cabinet should be within a week after December 6, which means that Germany is expected to have a caretaker government that lasts about six weeks.
