Mexico: 70 bags with the remains of 11 people were found in a camp

Guadalajara – About seventy bags containing human remains were found in a piece of land in the municipality of Tonalà, in the Mexican state of Jalisco. These would be the bodies of 11 people, according to reports from the magistrate investigating the case. The remains were found following the report of the inhabitants of the area: they were buried in a piece of land on the outskirts of Guadalajara, used for the storage of plastic containers for pets, and the search is not yet over.

Jalisco is the state of Mexico that records the highest number of missing persons and clandestine graves: according to the latest report by the National Research Commission of the Mexican Interior Ministry, the cases since December 2018 exceed 3 thousand and in 2020 they were 433 bodies of people were found buried in clandestine graves in Jalisco, or 42.96% of the 859 bodies found throughout Mexico. This area is home to the Jalisco Nueva Generacio’n (CJNG) cartel, considered the most powerful criminal group in the country.
