Mexico focuses on lithium, President Obrador launches a state enterprise to exploit it: “It belongs to the people”

The Mexico has decided to focus on lithium. It is the white gold of the planet, the basis of the energy of the future. And since the country has the largest reserve in the world, a field with 3.5 million tons, 40 times the amount consumed in 2021, it wants to preserve it from the appetites of foreign multinationals. President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador announced the birth of a state-owned enterprise that will exploit the mineral and included it in its electricity reform plan as the country’s strategic natural resource.
