A 12-story building collapsed overnight in Miami. Miami. The building was located on Collins Avenue in Surfside, Miami-Dade County relief sources said cited from Miami Herald. Ten rescue teams from the county and surrounding towns intervened on the spot. The number of injured is still unclear, but a firefighter on the spot spoke of several victims.
Miami Beach police told the newspaper that the collapse occurred at 2 am at 8777 Collins Avenue, where the Champlain Towers, a condominium of about 100 beachfront apartments, are located.
“We are on the scene of the collapse, at work”: said one of the rescuers who intervened in Miami for the collapse of a building. Sergeant Marian Cruz of the Miami Dade Fire Rescue explained, “What I can tell you is that the building is twelve stories high. The whole rear side of the building has collapsed ». The area is a mix of old and new apartments, houses, condominiums and hotels, with restaurants and shops serving locals and tourists.

The building is one block north of the Miami Beach city limits, in the Surfside resort, south of Bal Harbor. The area around 88th Street and Collins and Harding avenue has been closed. Dozens of fire engines and rescue vehicles are lined up along the roads. Testimonials that can be heard screaming from the rubble.
