The passivity of the Moroccan forces stationed on the border beaches allowed the migrants to reach the shore, some by their own means and others rescued by the boats of the Spanish Civil Guard. Dozens of children jumped into the sea unaccompanied, entire families and even mothers with babies tried to swim to Spanish territory.
