It was a 42-year-old British male flight attendant who traveled to Singapore with an international flight in the middle of this month. The monkeypox test was positive on the 20th and was admitted to Singapore. The disease center is currently in stable condition.

Singapore is the first Southeast Asian country to report a monkeypox case this year. According to the six regions divided by the World Health Organization, South Korea and Singapore belong to the “West Pacific Region”. The patient had symptoms of suspected monkeypox infection at the time of entry, and was classified as a suspected case after reporting to the Department of Disease Management. After polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing and nucleic acid sequencing analysis, it was finally determined to be a confirmed case. The patient has been sent to Incheon Medical Center for treatment.
