Moscow criticizes the Taliban: “Their government does not live up to its promises”

NEW YORK – Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Russia, China, Pakistan and the United States are working together to make sure the Taliban keep their promises to avoid extremism and make the government in Kabul more inclusive. Lavrov spoke of ongoing contacts between the four countries, explaining that envoys from Russia, China and Pakistan recently went to Qatar and then to the Afghan capital to discuss with Taliban representatives and with “secular” authorities, such as former President Hamid. Karzai.
