The boss of the ‘Ndrangheta Rocco Morabito was arrested in Brazil in a joint operation by the Carabinieri del Ros and the International Police Cooperation Service, with the collaboration of Dea, FBI and the US Department of Justice. Morabito, wanted since 1994, was included in the list of the 10 most dangerous fugitives of the Interior Ministry.
The boss had already been arrested in 2017 in Uruguay after 23 years on the run but two years later he managed to escape from the Montevideo prison where he was awaiting extradition to Italy. Vincenzo Pasquino, a fugitive originally from Turin, also included in the list of dangerous fugitives, was also arrested with Morabito. The group of carabinieri of Locri and those of the provincial command of Turin also collaborated in the investigation that led to the arrest of the two. (
