New crown pneumonia cases surge in many U.S. vaccination rates plummet
As the “Delta” variant virus swept across the United States on CCTV, health officials in various US states warned the public that the epidemic is far from over. According to data from Johns Hopkins University, every state in the United States has reported more cases of COVID-19 in the past week than in the previous week.
This week, both San Diego and Los Angeles in California reached the highest number of new additions in a single day since February this year, and the number of hospitalizations in Los Angeles more than doubled in two weeks. The Florida health data show that the number of new cases has almost doubled in two weeks, from 7.8% in the week of July 2 to 15.1% this week.
Louisiana health officials pointed out on the 23rd local time that Louisiana’s per capita case growth rate is now the highest in the United States. On the 21st, Louisiana reported the third highest daily number of new cases since the beginning of the epidemic. Louisiana Governor John Bell Edwards said: “We know that more than 80% of the new cases are infected with the’Delta’ variant virus, and the reason for the surge is that the proportion of people who are vaccinated is very low.”
According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, there are still 30 states in the US that have not yet fully vaccinated at least half of their residents. On July 23, the average number of people vaccinated in the United States was the lowest since vaccination began at the end of January.
