A 3-year-old boy died in New York on local Saturday morning after falling from a balcony on the 29th floor of an apartment building in the Harlem neighborhood. Police reported this, explaining that officers found the injured child lying on scaffolding on the 3rd floor after receiving a call to the emergency health services at 11:09 am. The boy was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The police spokesman said investigators are talking to two people who were inside the apartment when the child fell.
“We believe the baby has come out of a window, but the exact dynamic is being investigated,” a police spokesperson told The Associated Press. The apartment is located in the Taino Towers residential complex in Harlem. New York City law requires owners of buildings with three or more apartments to install window protectors if a child aged 10 or younger lives in the building or if a tenant or occupant requests it. It is unclear whether window protectors were installed in the apartment.
