New York former Governor Cuomo again accused of sexual harassment

by admin

Former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo was charged with committing a sexual offense two months after he resigned amid pressures of a harassment scandal. The complaint, filed by an investigator at the Albany County Sheriff’s Office, accuses Cuomo of putting his hand under a woman’s shirt on December 7, 2020.

The politician had already been publicly accused of groping by Brittany Commisso, an assistant at the executive building in Albany last year. “Like the rest of the audience, we were surprised to learn today that a criminal complaint was filed with the Albany City Court by the sheriff’s office against Andrew Cuomo,” said David Soares, county district attorney. The Court’s Administration Office then made this file public. Cuomo should appear in court on November 17th.

New York Attorney General Letitia James is in the process of running for governor. James would run for the Democratic nomination a few months after releasing the report that prompted Cuomo. According to one of the sources, cited by the Associated Press, James is expected to make an announcement by the end of the week. James, 62, is the first woman elected attorney general in New York and the first black person to fill this role. It could prove to be a major threat to Governor Kathy Hochul, who had been Cuomo’s deputy.
