[Epoch Times, March 04, 2022]Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has escaped Russian assassination at least three times in the past week, The Times has learned.
The Times noted that two different groups were dispatched to take Zelensky’s life, including the Wagner Group, a Kremlin-backed mercenary group, and the Chechen Special Forces. Both operations were thwarted by tip-offs from anti-war figures within Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB).
In the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, Wagner Group mercenaries reportedly suffered losses during an attempt to assassinate Zelensky, allegedly shocked by the Ukrainians’ accurate prediction of their actions.
A source close to the Wagner Group said Zelensky’s security team appeared to know the assassination well and was “creepy”.
The Times reported that anti-war Russians tipped Ukrainian government officials with intelligence about the planned attacks, allowing Zelensky to avoid his assassination attempt.
Oleksiy Danilov, secretary-general of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council (NSDC), said on state television: “We have received information (from the Russian Federal Security Service) that they do not want to be involved in this bloody war. “
