Nigeria: Malam Bako, new Isis leader in West Africa killed: eliminated a few days after his predecessor

by admin

Malam Bako, successor of Abu Musab al-Barnawi, leader of the jihadist group of the West African province of the Islamic State (Iswap), was killed. Nigerian national security adviser Babagana Monguno said today, quoted by the BBC. This killing follows the one communicated last October 14 by his predecessor Abu Musab al-Barnawi and dates back to two days ago, when the new jihadist leader was “eliminated” by the security forces. The security crisis in northeastern Nigeria began 12 years ago with attacks by the Islamist group Boko Haram.

The Chief of Defense Staff (CDS), Lucky Irabor, confirmed on October 14 the death of Abu Musab al-Barnawi, leader of the jihadist group of the West African province of the Islamic State. Monguno said yesterday that his successor was also killed by the Nigerian armed forces “along with an important member of ISWAP”.
