In the following 14 days, 6 positive cases were diagnosed among the 4,592 people who attended the concert and then consented to the analysis of diagnostic data, all mild or asymptomatic. Of these 6 cases, for at least 4 it was possible to establish that the occasion of the infection was not the concert; moreover, for all it was found that they did not cause further infections.
The incidence of infections corresponding to these data is 130.7 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, half of that observed among the general population of the same age group in Barcelona in the same period of time. “These data make it possible to exclude that the Palau Sant Jordi concert was a Covid super broadcast event,” explained the managers. The data analysis was carried out by doctors from the Fighting Aids and Infectious Diseases Foundation and the Germans Trias i Pujol university public hospital and approved by the epidemiological surveillance service of Catalonia.
