North Korea, Kim’s sister opens in Seoul

by admin

PYONGYANG – North Korea welcomes the proposal for a declaration of an end to the Korean war and says it is ready to discuss the improvement of relations with South Korea, if Seoul does not show hostility to Pyongyang.

He stated it Kim Yo-jing, the influential sister of the North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un, in a note released by the regime’s news agency, the Korean Central News Agency. The North is open to “constructive discussions”, says the woman who defines the South Korean offer of a declaration of an end to the war as “interesting” and a “good idea”, which ended in 1953 only with an armistice. “If the South is not hostile, we are ready to discuss the restoration of relations”, reads the note, taken up by the South Korean agency Yonhap. The role of the dictator’s sister in the Pyongyang regime is constantly growing: hers is one of the most important voices at the North Korean summit.

Kim Yo-jong’s message appears partially in contrast with what was stated just a few hours earlier by the North Korean deputy foreign minister, Ri Thae-song, who had called the offer made by the South Korean president “premature”, Moon Jae-in, to declare the end of the war, during his speech at the United Nations.
