According to a report by the Korean Central News Agency on the 12th, the North Korean Academy of National Defense Science successfully conducted a test launch of a hypersonic missile on the 11th. Kim Jong-un, general secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea, watched and guided the test launch.
The report said that the hypersonic glide flying warhead separated from the missile successfully hit the intended target away from 1,000 kilometers of water. The purpose of this test is to finally confirm the overall technical characteristics of the newly developed hypersonic missile weapon system.
Before the test launch, Kim Jong-un listened to a comprehensive commentary on the hypersonic missile weapon system by the president of the National Defense Academy of Sciences. He said that it is necessary to continuously strengthen the country’s strategic military forces in terms of both quality and quantity, and further accelerate the pace of upgrading and modernizing the military.
This is North Korea’s third hypersonic missile test since September last year, and Kim Jong-un’s first visit to the site to watch the missile test since March 2020. (Reporter Jiang Yaping)Return to Sohu, see more
