LONDON. Like a hundred years ago, this too will be a measured, silent and uncomfortable celebration for some in Northern Ireland. This time also because of the anti Covid restrictions, a century ago instead because after the Irish War of Independence (and the First World War) no one was really satisfied, nor did they want to celebrate. In fact, on May 3, 1921, legislation came into force which sanctioned two parliaments and two distinct states: Northern Ireland and Southern Ireland.
