“The last time I played on this beautiful court was in 2019. It feels like yesterday. It’s incredible to be back in ‘Tennis Paradise’. I can’t wait for the tournament to start. Let’s go,” wrote Novak Djokovic before the start participation in Indian Wells.

Novak Djokovic returned to California, for the tournament in Indian Wells, for the first time since 2019. After the cancellation of the 2020 tournament in the wake of the global corona pandemic, Nole did not go to the desert in 2021 due to exhaustion. He then suffered the consequences of his decision not to vaccinate, as a result of which he was banned from coming in 2022 and 2023. And now it’s here again.

Novak is still at the top of the “eternal list” of Indian Wells champions with Roger Federer, as both have won five titles each. The Serbian lifted the trophy in 2008, 2011, 2014, 2015 and 2016. Since his last appearance in 2019, the champions have been Cameroon Nori in 2021, Taylor Fritz in 2022 and Carlos Alcaraz in 2023. This March, the tournament will feature the biggest names in tennis, as Novak traveled to California along with Rafael Nadal, who is also participating.

After “skipping” the first round as the first seed, from the second round he will play against the qualifiers or against the Australian Aleksandar Vukić. We hope it will be a competitive start to Djokovic’s great two weeks in California…
