(LaPresse) Much of California has been devastated by bad weather for days and conditions could worsen during the week. Heavy rain and very violent winds, with gusts reaching 128 kilometers per hour, hit the San Francisco Bay area, causing floods, felling trees and interrupting electricity service for over 350 thousand inhabitants. In Southern California, officials warned of potentially devastating flooding and ordered the evacuation of canyons burned in recent wildfires that are at high risk of mud and debris flows. Many people have reached out to the Santa Barbara Home Improvement Center asking about sandbags, flashlights and generators. The sandbags sold out already on Saturday, February 3, so people bought bags of soil and fertilizer. Strong winds and heavy rain brought dangerous conditions to the coastal city of Ventura, west of Los Angeles. (LaPresse)
