A subsidiary of Panasonic Holdings has filed a recall for battery packs for electrically assisted bicycles due to the risk of fire.
The company plans to replace the approximately 140,000 affected units free of charge.

According to Panasonic Cycle Tech, the recall applies to 140,364 battery packs for electrically assisted bicycles manufactured between January 2015 and July 2017.
According to the company, there have been 13 accidents in which batteries caught fire over the past four years, and the cause is thought to be water entering the battery, corroding the safety valve, leaking electrolyte, and causing a short circuit. I’m explaining.
The company has filed battery pack recalls in 2015, 2016, and 2020, making this the fourth recall.
Panasonic Cycle Tech has decided to replace the affected products free of charge, and commented, “We deeply apologize for the inconvenience and inconvenience caused.”
