The Gare du Nord station in Paris has been reopened, which had previously been evacuated for over an hour due to a bomb scare. «The security forces have asked for the evacuation of the Gare du Nord after the threat of a bomb. Traffic to and from this station is interrupted ”, the official account of TER Hauts-de-France (SNCF) had initially tweeted, specifying that more information would be given“ as soon as the situation evolves ”. Railway traffic, communicates the SCNF, is progressively reopened from 6pm.
Thousands of passengers waited in front of the gare du Nord and in the adjacent streets. Photos disseminated on social networks show a huge crowd that clogs the square. Following the alert, all traffic to and from the station was blocked, a crucial hub where international and national trains pass, but also lines of the urban and suburban railway service. The metro line continues to operate normally, but skips the Gare du Nord stop. There is currently no confirmation on the nature of the alert, although there have been reports of suspected abandoned baggage. The importance of the security measures deployed indicates “that the alarm was taken very seriously,” notes Le Parisien.
