Professor Elisa Signori, professor of Contemporary History at the University of Pavia and director of the Pavese Institute for the History of Resistance and the Contemporary Age, will hold the official prayer in Pavia on the occasion of the event on April 25, 77th anniversary of the Liberation.
The event will be held at 12 in piazza Italia. Elisa Signori is the mother of Andy Rocchelli, the Pavia photojournalist killed in Donbass in 2014. T he program of April 25 in Pavia will start at 9.45 with the laying of a wreath at the «Memorial dedicated to the fallen of the Second World War at the Cimitero Maggiore di San Giovannino; a moment of recollection and prayer will follow with bishop Corrado Sanguineti, in memory of the fallen of the war conflicts. At 10.30 the meeting is scheduled in Piazzale Ghinaglia, with the deposition of the crown on the memorial stone named after Ferruccio Ghinaglia.
From there the procession will start for Piazza del Carmine with the participation of the band “Santa Cecilia” of Belgioioso. At 11, in the church of Santa Maria del Carmine in Pavia, the Holy Mass will be held, celebrated by Don Daniele Baldi. At 11.45 the procession will be reconstituted, which will head to Piazza Italia where, at 12, the event organized by the Municipality will be held: the raising of the flag, the laying of the crowns, the greeting of the mayor Mario Fabrizio Fracassi and the oration of the teacher Elisa Signori.
