Source title: Performance breaks the world record again, Huazhong University of Science and Technology chart computer tops the global list
On June 4th, the reporter learned from Huazhong University of Science and Technology that the International Supercomputing Conference was held in Hamburg, Germany, and the 24th Graph 500 ranking was announced. It is the world‘s most authoritative graph computing list, and for the first time in the world, the single-computer performance surpasses the supercomputer graph computing performance.
At present, global big data has entered a period of accelerated development. Everything is related, and a graph is an organizational structure that expresses the complex relationship between things. Therefore, many application scenarios in real life need to use graphs.
In order to obtain useful information from the associations between these data, a large number of graph algorithms emerge one after another. They obtain important information hidden in graph data by iterative processing of large graph data. As the core technology of next-generation artificial intelligence, graph computing has been widely used in many fields such as medical care, education, and finance, and has become a new strategic commanding height of global technological competition.
The Graph 500 list of the International Conference on Supercomputing is an international authoritative list for evaluating supercomputer graph computing performance jointly organized by the International Society for Computing Machinery (ACM) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
Under the support of the National Key R&D Program “General Computer Technology and System for Graph Computing”, the graph computing team led by Associate Professor Zhang Yu and Dr. Zhao Jin of Huazhong University of Science and Technology has conducted in-depth research for many years. A number of key technological breakthroughs have been achieved.
In November last year, in the 18th Green Graph 500 and the 23rd Graph 500 rankings unveiled at the International Supercomputing Conference held in St. Louis, USA, the graph computer DepGraph developed by the team has topped the two most authoritative graph computing lists in the world. one. In this ranking, DepGraph’s performance surpassed supercomputers such as Japan’s “Fuyue”, ranking first in the world and breaking the world record.
“At present, we are negotiating with relevant units to apply graph computing in actual business; at the same time, after the industrialization of software, we will promote the industrialization of related hardware and promote hardware products to various industries.” Zhang Yu said.
