BERLIN – The issue of pollution, emissions and the environment is the new battleground between the Polish sovereign government in power since 2015 and the European authorities. Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said this afternoon that Warsaw is willing to sit at the negotiating table, but that despite the closure order issued last Friday by the European Court of Justice, in order to comply with the energy and conversion plans for the lignite mine of Turow, very close to the border with the Czech Republic, will remain open.
