Poland, the hour of religion or ethics becomes compulsory at school: “We will defend Christian and national values”

BERLIN – New offensive by the national clerical-fundamentalist right elected to power in Poland since 2015. In the face of the wave of apostasy in Catholic Poland, where many adults, while often remaining believers, no longer recognize themselves in the pro-government anti-Francis line of the episcopate, and where it is estimated that 30 percent of families have removed their children from the hour of religion at school, the minister of education, the hawk Przemyslaw Czarnek, announced in statements to the pro-government daily Gazeta Polska reported by the independent news site NotesfromPoland-nfp, a law that will prohibit families from canceling their children both from the hour of religion and from the alternative hour of ethics.
