Pope Francis chanted the morning prayer with the bishops of Slovakia on the morning of September 15. The pope and bishops prayed to the Virgin Mary together: “Please heal our wounds with sweetness.”

(Vatican News Network)On the morning of September 15th, Pope Francis chanted the morning prayer with the bishop of Slovakia at the national pilgrimage site of Our Lady of the Seven Sorrows in Shastin, Trnava Region. The pope and the bishops recite this verse dedicated to Our Lady of the Seven Sorrows:

Our Lady of Sorrows,

Our brethren gather in front of you,

Thank God for his mercy.

You are with us as if you had gathered at dinner with the apostles.

The mother of the church, the comfort of sorrow,

We are in the joy and labor of pastoral ministry,

Ask you for help with confidence.

May you watch us tenderly,

And accept us with your embrace.

After the apostle, the sinner’s trust,

You know the limits of our human nature,

Spiritual fault,

The pain of loneliness and abandonment:

Please heal our scars with sweetness.

Mother of God, our mother

We entrust our lives and our motherland to you,

Also entrust the communion of the bishops to you.

Please ask for grace for us

Let us practice what your Son Jesus taught us every day,

Now, we are with Him, in Him,

Present our prayers to Heavenly Father together.

Subsequently, the pope and the bishops continued to recite the Sutra together. Finally, the pope recites the closing prayer to end the morning prayer ceremony.
