Xinhua News Agency, Windhoek, April 5 (Reporter Chen Cheng) Luanda News: The first phase of the Cunene Province Drought Relief Project, a key livelihood project in Angola undertaken by China Power Construction Corporation, was officially delivered on the 4th. President João Lourenço, officials from Cunene Province, representatives of Chinese enterprises and hundreds of local people attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony that day.
Lorenzo said at the ceremony that the commissioning of this project will greatly improve the situation of local residents suffering from drought, and will also create conditions for the development of local agriculture.
Li Xunfeng, general manager of the Angola Country Representative Office of China Power Construction Corporation, said that since the project was launched in 2019, it has experienced many difficulties. The builders of Angola and China have worked together side by side to overcome the difficulties and successfully complete the task, bringing new hope to local residents.
According to reports, the first phase of the Kunene Province Drought Relief Project includes a main channel with a total length of about 150 kilometers connecting the Kunene River, as well as facilities such as reservoirs and drinking water points. During the construction of the project, the Chinese enterprises used a large number of local employees, creating thousands of jobs. (over)
