Priest kidnapped in May released in Nigeria

Father Joe Keke, kidnapped on May 20 in Nigeria by gunmen, was released. This was announced by Father Chris Omotosho, communications director of the diocese of Sokoto, as reported on the Twitter profile of the pontifical foundation Aid to the Church in Need, thanking “those who have concretely spent these days for his release!”.

Father Keke was kidnapped in an attack by gunmen on the Catholic parish of St. Vincent Ferrer in Malunfashi, in the state of Katsina. Another priest, Father Alphonsus Bello, was killed in the attack.
