Putin: “The West uses the migrant crisis to put pressure on Minsk”

“The West does not take Russian warnings seriously enough not to cross the ‘red lines’ and Moscow needs serious security guarantees.” This was the warning of the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, who spoke at an enlarged meeting of the college of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Putin explained that talks to resolve the conflict in Eastern Ukraine are heading towards a standstill and accused the West of using the migrant crisis to put pressure on Moscow’s ally Minsk.

The head of the Kremlin also took the opportunity to denounce that NATO, with which Moscow broke off relations last month, has destroyed all mechanisms of dialogue. “The treatment used on migrants by the men of the Polish security agencies on the border with Belarus is unacceptable,” denounced Putin. “There are small children there and they shoot water, use tear gas, sound sirens, throw grenades and helicopters fly along the border.”
