Radio Mogadishu speaks Italian again: “But it’s not colonialism”

FOR THE FIRST time after 30 years, the Italian is back on the waves of Radio Mogadishu, the state broadcaster of Somalia which – after Eritrea – was the second Italian colony in Africa. A short radio news, opened with the notes of the Tg1 theme song, a music that has always been well known in Somalia. It was a broadcast that for now is a translation of the Somali news, but which in the intentions of the Foreign Ministry should be a symbol of the new Italian interest in a country that for 30 years has not been able to find a peaceful structure and a “governance” recognized above all by large clans and Somali families.
