Xinhua News Agency, Moscow, June 24. The Russian Defense Ministry said on the 24th that the Russian military had completed a large-scale military exercise in the open waters of the central Pacific Ocean. The exercise mainly targeted imaginary enemy submarines, aircraft carrier strike groups and important infrastructure targets for attack drills.

According to Russian media quoted news from the Russian Ministry of Defense that day, the large-scale military exercise began on June 7 and conducted more than 30 actual combat exercises in the central Pacific waters about 2,500 nautical miles southeast of the Kuril Islands. More than 20 ships of the Russian Pacific Fleet, naval aviation of the fleet, and more than 20 aircraft of the Aerospace Force participated in the exercise. The exercises include anti-submarine, air defense, escort, long-range force dispatch, and joint strikes on important targets.

According to the report, during the exercise, the guided missile cruiser “Varyag” of the Russian Pacific Fleet, the anti-submarine ship “Marshal Shaboshnikov” and aircraft of the aerospace military jointly launched attacks against important targets of the imaginary enemy. Three Tu-95MS strategic bombers took off from Kamchatka Airport. Under the escort of MiG-31BM fighter jets, they simulated the use of cruise missiles to attack designated targets, and returned to the airport safely after completing aerial refueling over the Pacific. In addition, several Tu-22M3 strategic bombers took off from Kamchatka Airport to complete the mission of attacking imaginary enemy aircraft carrier strike groups.
