There is a certain mystery surrounding Vladimir Putin’s remote vote. In fact, the president expressed his preference from the computer in his office at the country residence in Novo Ogaryovo. The images were released by the Kremlin last Friday, which is the first day of the elections. On the net, however, the first doubts immediately arose. In fact, digital voting involves the use of a mobile phone to receive the confirmation SMS with the code to be entered in the system (and thus avoid fraud).
But in the video released by the Kremlin there is no trace of a cell phone and Putin has repeatedly said that he does not have one. His spokesperson, Dmitry Peskov, then clarified that the cell phone was used, but it belonged to one of his advisers. In this case, underlines the independent newspaper Meduza, that cell phone must still be connected to Putin’s digital profile hosted by the online platform of the Russian public administration. Or the president has other means than those of an ordinary mortal (possible).
But there is a further oddity: Putin’s wristwatch showed the date of September 10 and not September 17, when in reality he should have voted. This suggested that the images were recorded. But here comes another ‘twist’. According to Dozhd reporter Daniil Sotnikov, Putin’s clock may simply need to be reset. Apparently, the videos of the military exercises of September 13 showed that at that moment Putin’s clock was set to 6. So the accounts add up. “It seems that Putin’s clock is simply a week behind.”
