Russia, Putin signs a law that allows him to run until 2036

by admin

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed the law that allows him to run two more times for the presidency and therefore potentially remain in power until 2036. The law, amended with the constitutional referendum, prohibits a Russian president from remaining in office for more than two terms. However, this does not apply to anyone who held the presidency before the relevant amendments to the constitution went into effect (in other words, before 2020). Therefore, President Vladimir Putin and former President Dmitry Medvedev can run for the presidency two more times. Meduza reports it.
