Sandro Michel had to undergo emergency surgery at Dresden hospital after a serious fall during training in Altenberg, Swiss Sliding announced, but he was in a stable condition. Its driver Michael Vogt also suffered a serious concussion.

Wednesday morning, caution remained in order despite a certain optimism: the life of Sandro Michel is no longer in danger. According to initial information, the Aargau pusher was thrown from his bob and was violently hit by a four-man bob which was sliding backwards in the finish area. He lost consciousness in his fall.

Sandro Michel was transported by helicopter to the university clinic in Dresden and operated on his pelvis and thigh, as reported by Swiss Sliding. Additional examinations carried out on Wednesday should make it possible to determine the exact extent of Michel’s injuries, who was also hit in the chest.

Pilot Michael Vogt also spent the night in hospital. A serious concussion was diagnosed in the 26-year-old from Schwyz. The Worlds, which begin next week in Winterberg, are therefore no longer relevant, even if the two other pushers, Dominik Hufschmid and Andreas Haas, escaped with minor injuries.
