NEW YORK – The man who in 1981 was accused of the rape of Alice Sebold – who would later become the writer who inspired her most famous novels: Lucky of 1999 and lovable remains of 2002 – was innocent. Anthony Broadwater, now 61, 40 at the time of the crime, was rehabilitated on Monday. Convicted of that crime he never committed, he spent 16 years in prison.
