Skip the EU-Switzerland agreement: Bern renounces the agreement on the single market

A negotiation that had been going on for 7 years and that ends with a stalemate. Switzerland and the European Union have not found a way to renegotiate the framework agreement on the single market that would have allowed the Confederation to partially emerge from its isolation to further integrate with the EU countries.

Bern has decided, in fact, to give up at least for the moment, aware that a possible agreement would have aroused too much discontent, with the federal elections scheduled in just over a year.
