Last week some residents of the neighborhood of Tenoya, in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain, called the firefighters to ask for their help: there was a cat to be rescued that was trapped on top of a light pole. It is not known how the cat got up there, but it probably must have climbed too high without being able to come back.
However, his rescue was not easy. Firefighters initially said they couldn’t save him because the pole was unstable and they feared the cat might jump on them, lose his balance and fall. Then one of them used a jet of water against the cat to make him go down by himself. But the strategy had no effect on all fours.
In the end, thanks to the help of the Fire Brigade and their means, the animal was saved after having remained on top of the pole all evening. The firefighters picked him up and carried him to safety, also because in the meantime it had started to rain.
The cat is now being cared for by a local named Odón Jesús Armas Cabrera who says the cat is in good condition and happy. “The firefighters have worked well – he said -. Now we are waiting for its owner to show up, as we have noticed that it is not a wild animal. But if this does not happen, I will look for an adoption and a forever home for him ».
