William Sezoe knows it well: Afrikaans, the language of the white oppressors, is almost dead, yet he – black – is fighting to keep it alive. He is highly regarded for his articles on newspapers and sites and after graduating he plans to return to the fishing village of Velddrif, to teach Afrikaans to children. Now he is studying in Stellenbosch, which is a small town close to Cape Town, known for its wines and the first university founded in South Africa.
