Zhao Zhubin was sentenced to 42 years’ imprisonment in the second instance for violating the “Child and Adolescent Sexual Protection Law”, organizing criminal gangs, preparing for murder, compulsory indecency, fraud, and violating the “Drug Administration Law”.

According to the report, the judgment also requires the public to disclose Zhao Zhubin’s identity information, report for 10 years, restrict his employment in child and youth institutions and welfare facilities for the disabled, wear positioning monitoring electronic shackles for 30 years, and recover more than 100 million won (approximately 540,000) of illegal income. Zhao Zhubin, the 27-year-old mastermind, used communication software (Telegram) to establish 8 chat rooms from May 2019 to February 2020, and coerced dozens of women, including minors, into filming sexually exploited videos. Selling and spreading in the chat group of “Doctor’s Room”. Among them, 16 are minors, and the youngest is only 11 years old.

Zhao Zhubin was arrested on March 16 last year and was prosecuted in April of the same year. Following the courts of the first and second instance, the South Korean Supreme Court also found that most of the charges against Zhao by the prosecutor were guilty.

The aforementioned Yonhap News Agency reported that at the time of sentencing in the first instance, all charges were convicted except for the successful out-of-court mediation and no criminal responsibility was pursued. Zhao Zhubin was sentenced to 40 years in prison. In addition, he was sentenced to 5 years’ imprisonment in the first instance of concealing the proceeds of crime, and the combined sentence for several crimes in the two cases was 45 years.

The second instance tried the two cases together, and after adjusting the sentence, he was sentenced to 42 years in prison.

Zhao Zhubin and Jiang Mou, 20-year-old second-in-command of the “Doctor Room”, were also suspected of coercing several women to take nude photos. He was additionally charged in April last year. The court of first instance is hearing the case. The report believes that, therefore, Zhao Zhubin’s sentence may be extended.
