Space, Starship lands successfully: it’s the first time for Elon Musk’s rocket

by admin

SpaceX launched and then landed the latest prototype of its Starship rocket. It was the fifth flight and the first that ended without the rocket crashing, although a small fire broke out after landing, and was contained a few minutes later. Starship is a fully reusable launch vehicle, under development and funded by Elon Musk’s company, which focuses on this rocket for the return to the Moon.

“Normal landing!” Musk himself tweeted. The execution wasn’t quite perfect, with a small fire engulfing the 50-meter-high spacecraft base shortly after landing. SpaceX webcaster John Insprucker explained that “it’s not unusual with the methane we’re using,” adding that the engineers are still solving the design problems. The flames were quickly extinguished with a water cannon.

The rocket took off from the Boca Chica star base in southern Texas around 5:25 pm local time, reached an altitude of about 10 kilometers and performed a series of flight maneuvers.
