Ana and Maria, fictional names chosen by the Spanish newspaper The Rioja for the protagonists of this story who asked to remain anonymous, they met for the first time in 2002 in the San Millán hospital in Logroño, a city in northern Spain bathed by the Ebro River. Ana was born first, but weighs just over 2.5 kilograms and the managers of the maternity area decide to immediately transfer her from the delivery room to the incubator.
