Sudan, Italian businessman Zennaro released: remains under house arrest

by admin

The Italian businessman Marco Zennaro, in prison in Sudan for about two months, was released pending the development of the various disputes against him, already in the coming days. This is confirmed by sources of the Farnesina. The release came a few minutes ago, as part of a long negotiation constantly followed by the ambassador in Khartoum and by the general manager Luigi Vignali who had already gone on a mission to Sudan in recent weeks on the recommendation of the foreign minister Luigi Di Maio. Zennaro will still have to stay in Sudan to address the various causes that see him involved.

Following his release, he is under house arrest in the hotel, which will allow him to deal with the trials against him. The mayor of Venice Luigi Brugnaro expresses joy and satisfaction for the release of his compatriot in Khartoum, while he is said to await further positive developments for the entrepreneur, whose trial is not over. Brugnaro, who was always in contact with the Italian authorities, in an official note thanked President Mario Draghi who he met last week in Rome for the decisive work done by our diplomacy. The Venetian entrepreneur is expected on Tuesday 15 June for a new civil hearing for one of the disputes against him.
