All the ships forced to wait in the anchorage areas in the Suez Canal due to the presence of the Ever Given, which ran aground on the 23rd of last May, crossed the strategic maritime communication route between the Red Sea and the Mediterranean. This was stated by the president of the Suez Canal Authority (Sca), Admiral Osama Rabie.

“Today, all the ships, which have been on hold since Ever Given ran aground on March 23, have completed their transit along the Suez Canal,” Rabie said.
On 23 March, the Panama-flagged ship ran aground at kilometer 151 in Suez, blocking the southern entrance to maritime transit. “The stranded ship left 422 ships stranded in the Suez Canal with a combined net tonnage of approximately 26 million tons,” Rabie announced.

Out of a total of 422 blocked ships, 61 had been waiting until today. Today, moreover, another 24 ships are regularly in transit. “The work did not stop for a single moment to ensure the transit of all waiting ships and receive new transit requests,” concluded Rabie.
