Dushanbe news: According to Tajikistan’s “Khoval” national news agency, under the framework of military cooperation and the agreement reached, the joint military exercise of Tajikistan, Russia and Uzbekistan was officially launched on August 1. The location of the exercise was at the Harbu-Meidong Shooting Range in Khatlon State in the Tajikistan, about 20 kilometers from the Afghan border.

The report quoted the head of the Information Center of the Ministry of Defense of the Towers as saying that more than 2,000 officers and soldiers, 25 combat and transport aircraft, and about 300 sets of modern weapons and equipment were dispatched in the exercise. The exercise will continue until August 10. The purpose of holding large-scale joint military exercises includes: effectively testing the military’s ability to perform various tasks in the unstable situation in the border area; improving the armed forces of the three countries through the organization of military and tactical operations related to the ever-changing threats and coordination. Individual combat capability; research and familiarize with the geographical situation during the implementation of military exercises and troop mobilization, so as to carry out counter-terrorism operations in the border areas, grassland environment and remote mountainous areas of Tajikistan.

It is reported that in response to the threat posed by the tense situation in Afghanistan, neighboring countries in Central Asia have recently taken a series of military actions. In early July, President Rahmon of Tajikistan ordered the Ministry of National Defense to mobilize 20,000 reserve personnel to consolidate border defense capabilities. Uzbekistan has sent additional troops to the Uzbek-African border area and deployed new weapons and equipment. In addition, from July 26th to 30th, the armed forces of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan held the “Combat Friendship-2021” special tactical exercise in Uzbekistan.
