He escapes from a prison, is chased by the police for several kilometers and finally, finding himself trapped, opens fire and is killed. It happened in the Belgian municipality of Sint-Lenaarts, between Antwerp and Breda. The news is reported by the BBC.
According to the reconstruction of the facts, the young man, who escaped from a Dutch institution in Den Hey-Acker, was shot to death in a fire fight with the police when he had already crossed the border and reached Belgium. To guarantee his escape from the institute, the boy took two employees of the facility hostage (who later managed to save themselves and escape). From here the long pursuit to the village of Sint-Lenaarts where the firefight then took place.
According to some witnesses who spoke to the gazet van Antwerpen website, the car with the boy escaped from prison “traveled several stretches on the sidewalks and then ended up off-road. We just managed to get out of the way, “they said. Once out of the car and reached by the police, the firefight began: at least 30 shots were fired.
